Vadim Zaplechny was born in Kishinev. He graduated from Music School of E.Koka as choir conductor and Moscow State Institute of Performing Arts as opera singer.

Since 1990 Vadim has been a principal soloist in Moscow Theatre Helikon-Opera, where he performed the roles of Hermann (“The Queen of Spades” P.I.Tchaikovsky), Radames (“Aida” G.Verdi), Don Jose (“Carmen” G.Bizet), Canio (“I Pagliacci” R.Leoncavallo) , Hoffmann (“Les Contes d’Hoffmann” J.Offenbach), Eisenstein (“Die Fledermaus” J.Strauss), Vassily (“Siberia” U.Giordano) and Truffaldino (“The Love for the Three Oranges”,  S.S. Prokofiev).

In 1998 Vadim performed Hermann (“The Queen of Spades” P.I.Tchaikovsky), and Genaro ("Maddalena" S.S.Prokofiev) in Queen Elisabeth Hall in London, made his debut in Opera de Nantes as Turiddu ("Cavalleria rusticana" Pietro Mascagni) and performed Vodemon in a concert performance of "Iolanta" P.I.Tchaikovsky with the Canadian Opera Company.

From 1998 to 2005 Vadim Zaplechny performed at the National Theater Mannheim, with the Orchestra of Temirkanov in Washington D.C., the Slovenian National Theatre, the Finnish National Opera, and the San Francisco Opera.  In 2001 he performed in “Maddalena” S.S.Prokofiev and in 2004 “The Maid of Orleans” P.I.Tchaikovsky in Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. He cooperated much with the Canadian Opera Company, Toronto.

In 2006-2014 Vadim performed Sergei in “Lady Macbeth of Mzensk” D.Shostakovich at Opera Ireland in Dublin, at Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, at Teatro Comunale di Bologna and at Hungarian State, Opera House in Budapest. He performed Prince Shuisky in “Boris Godunov” M.P.Mussorgsky at Opera Monte Carlo and Theatre Royal de la Monnaie and Enzo Grimaldo in "Gioconda" A. Ponchielli at London, Opera Holland Park.

He performed Vasiliy Shuysky in opera "Boris Godunov" of M. Mussorgsky (in N.Rimsky-Korsakov's edition) in Bolshoi Theatre (Moscow). Vadim participated in "Khovanshchina" M. Mussorgsky as Scrivener to Opera Bastille (Paris), conductor M.V.Yurovsky and performed Riccardo in opera "Un ballo in maschera" and Otello in opera "Otello" of G.Verdi.

In 2015 he performed Sadko in “Sadko” N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov. In 2015-2017 Vadim had performances in Bologna (Teatro Comunale di Bologna), in San Paulo, Brasil (Municipal Theater of San Paulo), Rome (Teatro dell'Opera di Roma), Opera Monte-Carlo, in Munich and Luxembourg with Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.

.           Vadim worked with many world-famous conductors, such as Mstislav Rostropovitch, Yuri  Temirkanov, Vladimir Fedoseev, Vladimir Ponkin, Richard Hikoks, Richard Bradshaw, Eri Klas, Zoltan Peshko, Alexander Anisimov and Alexander Polianichko, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Vassily Sinaisky, Dmitri Jurowski, Mikhail Jurowski, Mariss Jansons, James Conlon.
